The below salaries and hourly rates are a guide based on UK nanny, babysitter & maternity nurse rates in 2007.

Each individual nanny or babysitters relevant experience and qualifications should be taken into account when deciding on an hourly rate or salary.
Salaries are net of tax and national insurance which are the employers' responsibility.
Babysitters' hourly rates are gross figures - the babysitters are themselves responsible for tax and NI if applicable.

Permanent nannies and mothers' helps should have two days free per week and a bedroom separate to the children. Live in nannies are expected to babysit two nights per week. Extra days and babysitting nights should be paid according to your agreement with the nanny.
