How does findababysitter.com work ?

FAQ for Nannies and Babysitters

Q.

How will findababysitter.com help me to find a childcare position?

A.

When you register with findababysitter.com you include your contact details and the areas you would like to work in.

When a parent living in one of the areas you choose to work in searches for a nanny or babysitter, your details will appear.

Your contact details will only appear to registered parents.

Q.

How often should I update my profile?

A.

The more often you update your profile the more likely your profile will be seen by a parent.

The most recently updated nanny and sitter profiles appear at the top of the results pages that are seen by parents.

So the more often you update your profile the more likely you will be contacted by parents.

Q.

How will I know if a parent is going to call me?

A.

Although you will not be alerted to a parent viewing your profile, you should expect phone calls or emails any time from the moment you register.

It is important to be prepared. Know what your experience is and what sort of position you are looking for so when a parent calls you are able to answer their questions. There is more information on our site about how to prepare for an interview.

If you do not receive any contact from parents be sure to update your profile. Ensure your profile is well written, in good English, with convincing reasons why you would like to work as a babysitter or nanny. Adding a photo helps your profile to stand out from the crowd – a friendly face always makes a parent feel more comfortable.

Q.

What should I say when a parent calls?

A.

A parent will most likely wish to discuss your childcare experience and whether the position they have to offer will suit you.

Be prepared. Know your experience well. Make sure you answer with consistent answers. Offer to email the family your CV. Make sure you do this promptly.

Organize an interview while you are talking to them on the phone. If you are in an awkward situation – on the bus or in a noisy shop – ask if you could call them back at their convenience.

Be sure to ask lots of questions about the family, the children and their needs. Show a keen interest in the children; after all, this is what you are there for.

Q.

I have registered with findababysitter.com but have received no phone calls or emails from parents. Why?

A.

If you registered with our website more than four weeks ago but have not updated your profile your details will automatically be removed from the system.

For parents to again see your profile you need to log in once more. The more often you log on the higher up the list your profile will be.

Alternatively you may need a little help with your comments. Read over what you wrote about yourself again – if you would like some assistance email us at fab@findababysitter.com and our team will look over your profile and make some helpful suggestions.

Perhaps you are lacking a photograph. If you do not have a scanner or digital camera post us your photograph with your name & email address on the back and we will upload a photo for you.

Nanny of the week
im Felicity

I am a 30yr from New Zealand living here in Edinburgh and working full time during the week Monday to Friday. I have been an Au pair/Nanny during my travels in different countries and have experience with children from new born to 10 years. I have approx 3 year's experience and I really miss the child/family contact. As an extra wee income I would love to meet a family here and help out with babysitting during week nights and weekends. I am a positive happy person who has a natural love with young infants and believe interaction is important with all ages, whether that be reading, playing games, mucking in and getting out and about.
