There are many childcare qualifications in the UK. The primary qualifications held by nannies are below.

Diploma in Childcare & Education, formerly NNEB
- Full time two year course
- Most recoginized qualification
- Covering a childs' most vulnerable years, newborn to 7 years
- Practical & Theory
- Provides training in physical, social, educational, intellectual & emotional needs of all covered age groups.
- Health & Hygenie
- Play & Peadiatric First Aid
BTEC
- Formally National Diploma in Child Studies (Nursery Nursing)
- Full time two year course
- Similar to the NNEB though more academic
- Along with childcare there is a focus on teaching, nursing, social work
- Childcare practise & early years development
- Practical learning coupled with academic study
Certificate in Childcare & Education
- Run by the Council for Awards in Childcare & Education (CACHE)
- 14 modules
- Theory & Practical
NVQ's Level I, II, III & IV
- Up to two years to complete
- NVQ Level III equivelent to NNEB
- Practical & Theory training
- Practical & Theory assesment
- Dealing with a child's physical, emotional & social development.
Other Childcare College Courses
- Norland, Princess Christian & Chiltern Nursery Training College
- Two year courses
- Students awarded an NNEB & Health Diploma
ADCE
- Advanced Diploma in Childcare & Education
- Only available to those persons experienced in childcare (like doing a Masters in childcare)
