Tips on staying safe from internet scammers
Advice to help protect you against fraud on the internet.
Help us protect the Findababysitter.com community

The FAB mission is to make the experience of searching for childcare and local childcare jobs as simple and as safe as possible for parents, childcare candidates, and childcare agencies.
Findababysitter.com is a community site, we rely on you, the FAB community, to let us know if anything dodgy is going on out there! Please help us keep FAB scam free.
Our moderators check and approve every single new user profile and job before it goes live to help protect you against unscrupulous internet scammers and inappropriate content but we still advise you to be vigilant and to take every precaution to protect yourself.
If you suspect a job advert posting, profile or email is a nasty scammer in action let us know through our contact us form. Please provide as many details as possible about the job advert posting or email and we will do our best to remove the user from our little site.
What to look out for when you are using Findababysitter.com
Unfortunately scammers occasionally target childcare job seekers, so pleases be diligent and protect yourself! Look out for the “same old stuff” and clever tricks design to get you to hand over your personal details such as your bank account details and home address.
Keep an eye out for phony jobs posted on the website or messages from users with a sad story or a job opportunity that’s just too good to be true. As a rule, if it seems too good to be true it probably is!
To avoid falling into a trap laid by a phony employer find out as much as you can about the person(s) before agreeing to an interview and before taking up a position e.g. if you are a nanny find out the family’s home address, their landline phone number, name and ages of children. If you have any doubts, contact us.
Our advice to all community members is simple
ALWAYS meet prospective employers face to face. Never accept a job from a person you have not met who says they live overseas and offer to pay you prior to your meeting them. This sounds too good to be true and it probably is!
NEVER provide your bank account details when applying for a job. This is only necessary after you have interviewed in person, accepted the job offer and actually started working.
NEVER disclose your home or personal address to anyone over the internet.
NEVER disclose your address or bank account details to anyone over the internet.
