Parents and Childcare Professionals often ask us how they can get a DBS check or how they can apply for a DBS check. Parents will often ask for candidates with a DBS check or for candidates that are willing to apply for a DBS check. If you don’t have a DBS check its easy to apply online and it’s not as expensive as you might think, costing around £45 - £65.
Many nannies already hold a DBS check or enhanced DBS check because it was required by a previous employer.
Ofsted require childminders to hold a current DBS disclosure. If you employ a childminder that is registered and approved by Ofsted she will be able to show you his / her current Ofsted report and DBS document. When you contact childminders you should always ask them to confirm that they are an Ofsted registered childminder.
Applying for a DBS check can take up to 16 weeks so you should always try to think ahead.
