Including CPR and Choking

Basic Life Support Training

According to the 'Child Accident Prevention Trust' each year, over 15,000 children under five and a further 10,000 children aged between 5 and 14 are treated at accident and emergency units after choking.

What is Basic Life Support Training?

The e-learning package 'Emergency / Basic Life Support' teaches people the vital skills needed to help someone whose life is in danger, and can double the victims chances of surviving before help arrives!

Why is Basic Life Support Training required?

  • 25,000 children are treated at A&E after choking
  • Choking is the third largest killer of Children (after road accidents and fires)
  • 275,000 people have a heart attack each year
  • Coronary Heart Disease is the biggest killer in this country
  • About 80% of Cardiac Arrests happen away from the hospital environment (home, work etc)
  • 75,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest before reaching hospital every year
  • Bystander CPR can double the casualty's chances of survival

Early CPR buys time keeping the victims vital organs and brain supplied with oxygenated blood, and decreases the chances of neurological damage, until help arrives (defibrillator) to reverse the arrest.
